Disney’s Encanto Movie Poster Confirms First Trailer Releases Tomorrow

Disney’s 60th animated movie, Encanto, premieres this November, and the first trailer will arrive online tomorrow on the heels of today’s poster.

The first poster for Disney’s next animated movie, Encanto, teases the magical adventure ahead and confirms the first trailer will arrive tomorrow. After producing two sequels with Ralph Breaks the Internet and Frozen II, Walt Disney Animation Studios has returned to the world of originals with its two 2021 offerings. Raya and the Last Dragon debuted earlier this year in theaters and on Disney+ to positive reviews, and this fall, Encanto will try its hand as being the latest flick to charm audiences.

Officially confirmed to be on the Disney roster last December at the studio’s Investor Day event, Encanto will premiere in November. The film is centered on a Colombian family, the Madrigals, who live in a magical house and all have magical powers. All except for daughter Mirabel, who must cope with being the only non-magical family member. Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Stephanie Beatriz voices Mirabel. Encanto is directed by Bryon Howard and Jared Bush, and features new music from Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Wednesday morning, Disney unveiled the first poster for Encanto on social media. As is fitting for a teaser poster, it depicts a door being cracked open with light spilling through, hinting at the magic waiting on the other side. Along with the poster, Disney confirmed the first full trailer will arrive tomorrow, July 8.

Save for its general premise, much of Encanto remains a mystery. The project has been in the works since 2016, when Hamilton scribe Miranda revealed he was working on an original film with Disney. Further details were kept hush-hush over the years, until last December. During the Investor Day presentation, the first Encanto footage was revealed, which teased Miranda’s music and the Madrigals’ fantastical home. Presumably, tomorrow’s trailer will reveal more of their world and the magic they are capable of. It could also reveal who else aside from Beatriz is in the voice cast, since she’s the only person confirmed for the film.

Encanto holds some extra excitement for Disney, as it will be the studio’s 60th animated film. While the live-action side continues to revisit old classics, Disney’s animation studio can still be trusted to provide fresh, original tales. Recent years have seen those like Moana and Zootopia resonate with fans, and Encanto can follow in their footsteps when it comes to creating new characters and beautiful environments. More will be revealed with the first trailer tomorrow, and then everyone can form their own ideas about how Encanto will do as Disney’s latest.
