Huawei Facilitates Integrated Communication System for Indonesia’s High-Speed Railway”

JAKARTA, September 27 (Xinhua) — Huawei, the prominent Chinese telecom company, has played a pivotal role in the development of an integrated networking system for Indonesia’s newly launched high-speed rail (HSR) that connects the national capital, Jakarta, with West Java’s provincial capital, Bandung. Collaborating with China Railway Communications and Signaling Co., Ltd. (CRSC) and China Telecom, Huawei has designed real-time communication and control systems and facilitated train operations with technical support, resulting in a smart, safe, and efficient railway operation.

During a media briefing held at the Halim HSR station in Jakarta on Tuesday, Lai Chaosen, Vice President of Delivery & Service at Huawei Indonesia, emphasized the critical role of communication networks in the high-speed train operation control system. He noted that Huawei possesses extensive experience in constructing integrated communication networks for HSR train lines, equipped with premium security systems and substantial bandwidth capacity. These networks provide user-friendly operation and maintenance systems for seamless implementation.

“As we are aware, high-speed trains typically operate at significant speeds and with short time intervals between departures. It is imperative to ensure the safe, smooth, and efficient operation of these fast trains,” stated Lai. He further mentioned that Huawei offers a range of solutions, including train-to-ground wireless signaling systems, signal transmission, and data networks tailored for high-speed trains. These solutions have played a pivotal role in establishing a dependable communication network for the operational phase of the high-speed train.

The Jakarta-Bandung HSR, stretching 142 kilometers, stands as a flagship project under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and represents pragmatic cooperation between Indonesia and China. Featuring a maximum design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, this high-speed train has significantly reduced the travel time between Jakarta and Bandung from over three hours to approximately 40 minutes.
