Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz are set to release a joint album, Welcome 2 Collegegrove, on November 17 through Def Jam Recordings. This project serves as a follow-up to their 2016 collaborative endeavor, ColleGrove, which was named after 2 Chainz’s hometown of College Park, Georgia, and Lil Wayne’s hometown of Hollygrove, Louisiana.

The duo recently offered a glimpse of the upcoming album with their high-energy single, “Presha,” where both rappers unite their vocal prowess. The lyrics showcase their dynamic style with lines like, “I done fell in love with a thick bitch / I done fell in love with a rich bitch,” and “Shawty know she pressure, talkin’ high blood / Put two girls together like a hybrid.”

To promote the single, 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne are scheduled to perform on The Tonight Show. Their musical collaboration traces back to 2007 when Lil Wayne contributed to “Duffle Bag Boy” by Playaz Circle. Since then, they have continued to join forces on tracks such as “Rich As Fuck” and Juicy J’s club anthem “Bandz a Make Her Dance.”
While Lil Wayne’s latest solo album, Funeral, was released in 2020, speculation has been brewing among fans about the potential drop of Tha Carter VI, although no official announcement has been made. In September, the rapper unveiled “Kat Food,” a pulsating track produced by Charlie Handsome, FNZ, and Rogét Chahayed, incorporating elements from Missy Elliott’s “Work It.”
In an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year, Lil Wayne emphasized his continuous creative process, stating, “I work on multiple songs a day. I probably look at 20 verses a day. I’m on my bus right now. We have a studio set up on this bus. We also have a studio bus behind me. In every hotel we get to, my two engineers set up a studio in the bedroom. And I told you, we already have a studio booked in that city if it has a nice studio, meaning I don’t stop working.”
2 Chainz’s most recent album, Dope Don’t Sell Itself, was released in 2022. Additionally, he introduced a new track, “Sunset High,” during 1989 Studio’s runway show for Spring/Summer 2024 at Paris Fashion Week in June.
