Gruffudd, 48, has requested a California court to grant him a restraining order against his 53-year-old estranged wife, and also claims that Evans has been harassing his new girlfriend, Australian actress Bianca Wallace, 29. Evans has denied all allegations made against her.
Legal documents unveiled over 100 text messages and emails sent to Gruffudd by Evans since he filed for divorce last year after 13 years of marriage.
Gruffudd is requesting that Evans has to stay 100 yards (approx. 91 metres) away from himself and Wallace, and that she should not be allowed to contact them.
Evans has denied all of Gruffudd’s claims and said she does not agree to a stay-away or no contact order.
“I believe that Petitioner is filing this request merely as a ploy to gain some sort of advantage over me in our court proceedings,” Evans says in court documents, per The Mirror.
“As Petitioner has not seen our children for over eight months, I believe he is trying to set some sort of record that I am a horrible mother.”
Evans asked the court to deny Gruffudd’s request.
“Ever since I received Petitioner’s Ex Parte notice informing me that he will attempt to seek a domestic violence restraining order against me, I have been besides myself terrified that he will stop at nothing to hurt me emotionally and financially, and more alarming, try to take our children away from me,” her statement in the court documents continues.
“I have cried on and off all day terrified over what his lies have done to our family, and what they continue to do.”
Evans said in the documents she suspects Gruffudd “will not be truthful” and will “make things up to make me sound like an abuser” and says that would be in line with the strategy he has appeared to be using “from day one.”
In Gruffudd’s petition, he said that Evans “repeatedly told me between August 2020 and our separation on January 1, 2021 that if I left her, she would make false public accusations about me, sell false stories about me to the press, and destroy me and my career.”
“Alice told me verbally multiple times that she would do to me what Amber Heard did to Johnny Depp,” Gruffudd said in the petition.
Evans’ response included categorical denials of all of Gruffudd’s claims of threatening behaviour and harassment, plus a statement that she had “never” abused him or “disturbed the peace” of Gruffudd and Wallace.
In some of the text messages, as obtained by multiple outlets including The Mirror, Evans says Gruffudd is “sabotaging his career” by leaving his family.
“It’s embarrassing now that everybody is telling me you are done. That nobody wants to [employ] you. That Dom West is at the top of the lists because he ‘did the right thing’. And by the way it doesn’t matter what is really going on in the relationship, for god’s sake. It’s about appearances. Jesus Christ think of Cary grant and Rock Hudson,” part of one message reads.
“Why on EARTH do you think Tom Cruise and John Travolta went to such extents? I’m increasingly angry that you have sabotaged your career. Insanely angry. I GAVE UP my career for this.
“And you throw it away because you feel a stronger connection to [your parents] than you do to your own brethren? It’s just o confusing. . . You KNOW your Mum is a mental case. Why on earth do you want to give up everything we’ve established for the sake of somebody who doesn’t even love you?”
Evans also appears to blast Gruffudd for his use of expensive lawyers in other messages.
“You’ve wasted ALL our f–king savings on the wrong lawyers!! My god you f–king idiot. Everybody knows to AVOID those lawyers but you just fell right in. Because they stroked your ego.
“All that time I spent SAVING MONEY!!!! I could cry!!!!
“I’m going on Twitter to see if there is anybody who can put me up. I can’t live like this any more. I need to know where ill be this time next year. So do the kids. Also the fans are going to start a Go Fund Me.”
Evans also asked Gruffudd if he is “incapable” of loving their kids, who she claims were “bawling their eyes out” about losing the family home, which may be sold due to the divorce.
She also says she can’t afford to live in Los Angeles “on what the heinous prenup” gives her.
Evans also appears to take issue with the fact that Gruffudd was not responding to her messages, calling him a “coward” for doing so.
“Pick up the phone you coward,” she wrote to Gruffudd in one message per the court documents, asking him twice more to pick up the phone.
“F–k this. I’m tweeting you’ve done it again. Congrats,” she continued.
“I’m coming over to your house.
“Your children have no bathtub.
“We have no kitchen sink.
“I have had Julian round. I have paid him he f–ked everything up.
“These texts are not helping you.
“Call me. please. Just call me.
“Ok I’m calling the police to escort me to your house.
“IOAN- do you want your kids to have a house? WE ARE LOSING THE HOUSE.”
