Brisbane radio host reveals shocking COVID symptoms: ‘Like I’ve forgotten how to breathe’
In true Matty J fashion, the reality star, columnnist and entertainer confirmed he had been diagnosed with COVID-19 by re-enacting a meme for his Instagram followers.
“Spicy cough finally got me…” the 34-year-old father-of-two captioned the video.
In a series of Instagram Stories with fiancée Laura Byrne, the ex-Bachelor elaborated on his condition, poking fun at his partner in the process.
“Well if it’s not the COVID-19 superspreader that took down this family,” Johnson joked, zooming in on Byrne’s smiling face.
“What do you have to say for yourself?” he asked, to which Byrne responded with a cough.
Per Byrne’s Instagram Story, the couple were on their way to Queensland for Christmas, but after six hours of driving, Byrne found out she had COVID-19 and they had to turn around and drive home to isolate.
“I feel okay,” Johnson said. “I’m a bit fluey. I think I got it worse than Laura, Laura was fine.”
“No!” Laura responded. “I just sucked it up! I just had to get on with it because you were like, ‘I can’t do the kids on my own.’
“And now, [Johnson’s] got COVID-19, you’re like, ‘Everything hurts, I’m tired, I’ve got to go to bed because I’ve got the man-flu.'”
The couple finished by joking about Johnson’s symptoms, which he says are a headache and “feeling gassy.”
“I could just be hungover,” he laughed.
