Kanye West could face criminal charges for allegedly attacking a fan last month

Kanye West — who is legally known by the mononym Ye — may face criminal charges following an incident where he allegedly attacked a fan in Los Angeles.

The 44-year-old rapper was accused of pushing and punching a fan who was seeking an autograph near Soho Warehouse in Downtown Los Angeles last month.

Now, according to law enforcement sources who spoke with TMZ, Los Angeles police have almost completed their investigation and will forward the case to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, which is where it will be decided whether or not criminal charges will be filed against the Donda artist.

West has reportedly not been interviewed by the police — which is allegedly due to his busy schedule — despite them wanting to do so.

Per TMZ sources, however, it is believed that witness statements and paparazzi footage of the incident could suffice as enough evidence for a criminal charge.

If West is charged with misdemeanour battery, he could face a maximum fine of US$2000 (approx. $2800) and/or a maximum of six months behind bars.

The news comes as West objected to his estranged wife Kim Kardashian’s petition to have a judge declare her single before the duo settle custody and property issues in their divorce.

Kardashian and West’s resolution of custody and property is scheduled for early March, but West and his lawyer are reportedly suspicious of the timing of Kardashian’s latest petition.

Per TMZ, West seems to agree with Kardashian’s decision to be declared single, but his lawyer is “worried Kim might remarry and move some of their assets to her separate accounts.”

As long as safeguards are in place so their assets remain as marital property, West seems to support Kardashian’s petition.

He also asked Kardashian of three conditions on the petition, which she reportedly rejected, plus further demands regarding a potential remarriage between Kardashian and a future partner.

Despite his conditions, a prenup is already in place that keeps West and Kardashian’s property separate.
