Met Gala 2022: LGBTQIA+ activist confused for Jared Leto on the red carpet

Eyebrows shot to the roof earlier this morning when reporters claimed Jared Leto had arrived on the Met Gala carpet, in an outfit that looked like something straight out of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

But alas, the person on the carpet wasn’t Leto at all, but LGBTQIA+ activist and self-proclaimed “fashion addict” Frederik Robertsson.

Yet nearly every news site seemed to have shockingly misidentified Robertsson, truly believing it was Leto.

The case proved all the more confusing since media company Getty Images, who owns the Met Gala red carpet photos, labelled the images as ‘Jared Leto’ and not Robertsson on their site.

Sites including Elle, Page Six and the New York Post claimed Leto looked “unrecognisable” on the carpet.

Now we know this was because it actually wasn’t him.

But there was a reason for the mix-up. Robertsson sported a bleached hair look we’ve seen plenty of times on Leto.

Looking at photos, he really does hold some resemblance to the images of Robertsson on the carpet.
