Black Adam Images Offer Closer Looks At The JSA In Costume

A new set of images from Black Adam show off the comics-accurate costumes for Atom Smasher and Cyclone, as well as a BTS look at the titular antihero.

New images from Black Adam show off the Justice Society of America and the titular superhero. After being attached to play the role since 2014, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will finally make his superhero debut in October with the Jaume Collet-Serra-helmed movie. The film focuses on Johnson’s titular Man in Black as he emerges from his 5000-year-long imprisonment, vengeful and determined to do whatever it takes to get revenge for himself and his family.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

As Johnson’s Black Adam unleashes his wrath on the modern-day world, his savage maneuvers catch the attention of the Justice Society of America, an organization of superheroes who vow to stop Adam’s rampage and convince him to use his powers for good. JSA leader Hawkman (Aldis Hodge) will come into direct conflict with Black Adam for this reason, while his veteran colleague Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan) will remain level-headed and attempt to mediate the dispute. Meanwhile, the junior JSA members in Black Adam, Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), will attempt to come out of the shadows of their legacy counterparts and establish their own identities while helping Doctor Fate and Hawkman deal with Adam.

Now Total Film (via GamesRadar+) has shared a slew of new images from Black Adam. The snapshots offer thorough looks at Atom Smasher and Cyclone’s outfits, displaying their meticulous design. A few other photos offer behind the scenes looks at the making of the movie, showcasing the settings for the film’s high-octane action sequences. Take a look at the images below.

The new images arguably offer the finest look at Atom Smasher and Cyclone so far. The characters have appeared in their superhero ensembles in each Black Adam trailer, but their brief appearances were not sufficient to discern the details of their outfits. In the pictures above, however, audiences can get a good look at Atom Smasher’s bronze arm guards and belt, which are lined with veins that glow as the superhero increases his size. Cyclone is characterized a bit differently than her comics counterpart, but her purple-accented armor is definitely an upgrade, which conveys the idea that the character won’t be as vulnerable as she was on the page; rather, the Maxine Hunkel in Black Adam will be perfectly capable of taking care of herself. Overall, the images convey how closely Black Adam is honoring the JSA from the comics, giving precise attention to the subtleties of each character’s depiction.

Another thing that is quite visible in the new images is the mass havoc Black Adam will wreak once he escapes his imprisonment. Trailers for Black Adam have given an idea of the violence in the movie, as the scenes which featured Adam blowing jets away and sending cars crashing down with his thunderbolts were absolutely terrifying. Producers Hiram Garcia and Beau Flynn have additionally promised Black Adam will treat fans with a high level of brutality that they haven’t encountered elsewhere in superhero movies, and they believe that the titular anti-hero’s gruesome ruthlessness will prove polarizing. The behind the scenes shots included in the new images reinforce Garcia and Flynn’s comments, as they clearly show how cities will be ravaged once the unhinged warrior is on the loose. That said, the new images perk up Black Adam‘s bustling marketing campaign, helping build interest and anticipation for the movie.
