R.L. Stine’s Just Beyond Poster Teases New Disney+ Anthology Show

Disney+ reveals a new poster for the upcoming horror-fiction show Just Beyond, based on the works of the iconic children’s author, R.L. Stine.

Author R.L. Stine has terrified kids for over 30 years and, according to a new poster for the upcoming Disney+ series Just Beyond, he’s officially ready to frighten the next generation with eight new spooky tales. Stine first gained widespread popularity for writing the popular horror-fiction novels Goosebumps. While the books are intended for children, an entire generation of now-adults can attest to still being haunted by many of the series’ most haunting stories like Say Cheese And Die! and Night of the Living DummyGoosebumps has seen its fair share of TV and film adaptations, including a wildly successful children’s series that aired from 1995 to 1998. Recently, Stine shifted his kid-friendly tales to a gory R-rating with the Fear Street trilogy, which arrived on Netflix last July.

In a new poster released by Disney+, audiences get a glimpse at the author’s upcoming project, Just Beyond. Based on the comic book series of the same name, the anthology series will explore a horrifying realm where three unsuspecting students must unravel a terrifying mystery. Directed by The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb, it’s uncertain how much creative control Stine has over the show. Regardless, Stine revealed that he’s “thrilled to be back with Disney for the TV series,” and that “writing Just Beyond for BOOM! Studios has been a joy from the beginning.” Check out the new poster for Just Beyond below:

The series stars Gabriel Bateman (Jack), Riki Lindhome (Bonnie), Christine Ko (Ms. Fausse) Rachel Marsh (Fiona), and others. Just Beyond was created by horror-fiction veteran Seth Grahame-Smith, best known for writing The New York Times best-selling novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Grahame-Smith also produced the recent film adaptations of Stephen King’s It (2017) and It: Chapter Two (2019). Just Beyond was created with BOOM! Studios, the production company responsible for horror flicks like The Empty Man (2020) and the upcoming Malignant (2021). It will be interesting to see which direction Grahame-Smith chooses to go with the show’s original source material. But either way, the anthology series is sure to be an otherworldly, lighthearted, and chilling trek into a dark dimension. All episodes of Just Beyond arrive on Disney+ on October 13th, just in time for the spooky season.
