Radio intern recalls act of kindness from Jennifer Aniston that made him look good at his job

It turns out Jennifer Aniston is a true friend both on- and off-screen.

Author and podcaster Joe Pardavila revealed in his upcoming book Good Listen: Creating Memorable Conversations In Business And Life that the 53-year-old Friends star, when Pardavila was an intern at a morning radio show, went out of her way to grant him an interview.

It was 1997, and Pardavila had been sent by his boss at Scott & Todd in the Morning on United States station 95.5 PLJ to track down Aniston on the set of her film Picture Perfect for an exclusive interview.

He approached her trailer, which was located in Midtown Manhattan in New York City, only to be immediately stopped by her bodyguard.

“He saw me and sensed what I was about to do. He made a beeline straight for me,” Pardavila wrote in his book, which comes out on July 12 and also has stories about other celebrities like John Mayer, Taylor Swift and Jon Bon Jovi.

“Holding up my radio mic, I said in my most soothing and innocent tone, ‘Hey, I only want to ask Jennifer a couple of questions, that’s all.’ The guard let me know that wasn’t going to happen. His tone was neither soothing nor innocent.”

Aniston, however, had heard the commotion outside her trailer and came outside to talk to Pardavila, but not for an interview.

She told him she couldn’t talk to him, before going back inside her trailer. Pardavila then returned to the radio station unsuccessful in his quest – until, a couple of minutes later, the front desk received a phone call.

“Jennifer Aniston had her assistant call the front desk at PLJ to say Jennifer felt badly about what happened,” Pardavila writes. “Better yet, she’d be happy to do an interview with the morning show.”

Aniston then spoke with the show for 20 minutes about her film, her time spent on Friends, and “everything you’d want to talk about with Jennifer Aniston,” according to Pardavila.

Friends began in 1994 and aired its last episode in 2004. The 10-season show shot Aniston to global stardom – by 1997, she had been established as one of Hollywood’s It Girls – as did her subsequent films and relationship with Brad Pitt.
