The South Korean model, 27, shot to fame in the wildly popular Netflix series and has attracted millions of adoring followers — many of whom expressed concern over her tiny physique.
After posting a photo of herself wearing a long dark dress, commenters were quick to point out Ho-yeon’s slim frame.
“You are getting skinnier and skinnier. Hope you are happy and keeping well with your general health,” one person commented.
“Is she really in good health? She is very thin, she worries me about the state of her health, I hope and hopefully it’s just my things…” another wrote.
One fan added: “Please don’t have an eating disorder we love you.”
The breakout star addressed the comments in an interview with Star News, claiming she lost weight due to the stress of filming and the promotional tour.
Ho-yeon admitted that she “didn’t even have any time to eat” while carrying out her busy schedule in the US.
“So, I lost way too much weight. All the clothes that used to fit me when I first came her [to America] are too loose now,” she said.
In another interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress revealed she lost 3kg in one week after Squid Game became an overnight sensation on Netflix.
“I couldn’t eat – it wasn’t stress, I just didn’t know this feeling. I was kind of losing myself,” she confessed.
Squid Game was Ho-yeon’s debut acting role after she appeared on Korea’s Next Top Model in 2013, coming second in the reality competition.
