Carrollton Police: Officer, driver dead after crash on George Bush Turnpike

CARROLLTON, Texas — Carrollton police say one of their officers was killed in the line of duty last night. The driver that hit him was also pronounced dead.

According to police, the officer was helping with a DWI investigation in the westbound lanes of the George Bush Turnpike. He was hit by a passing driver on the turnpike near Josey Lane at about 10:30 p.m.

Police said the officer was pronounced dead after he was taken to the hospital. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene .
