DALLAS — Dallas police have arrested a 45-year-old Grand Prairie man and charged him with murder after allegedly stabbing another man and burning his body in an alleyway.
The victim, identified by police Friday as 52-year-old Anthony Moreno, was found burned in an alleyway in a North Oak Cliff neighborhood on Sunday morning, Dallas police said.
Police said they responded around 9:20 a.m. to the 1300 block of Kings Highway, near the intersection of North Tyler Street and West Davis Street. Officers and fire crews arrived and Moreno’s body that was burned, according to police.
Police originally did not say if there were any other visible injuries. In an update on Friday, DPD said its preliminary investigation found that the suspect, Manuel Tellez, had stabbed Moreno multiple times in the alley, left the scene and changed clothing, then returned to pour gasoline on Moreno and lit his body on fire.
Police told WFAA the attack was not random, adding that Tellez and Moreno knew each other.
Tellez was arrested and transported to police headquarters to be interviewed, then taken to the Dallas County Jail, officials said Friday.
