The move comes after Borrego guided the team for four seasons, going 138-163 and finishing 10th in the Eastern Conference, though Charlotte was eliminated in the play-in tournament the past two years.
2021-2022 saw the Hornets improve their win total by 10 games each of the past two seasons, finishing 43-39, the first winning season they had under Borrego.
Borrego joined the team in May 2018 after serving as an assistant for the San Antonio Spurs, New Orleans Pelicans and Orlando Magic, including serving as an interim head coach for the Magic after Jacque Vaughn was fired.
