The Little Mix star has been creating music with singer-songwriter Fred Again – who has penned tracks for rap superstar Eminem as well as British grime artist Stormzy and pop singer Ed Sheeran
Fans of Little Mix should perhaps brace themselves for a change in sound when Perrie Edwards launches her solo singing career as she is said to be working with the same team as Eminiem on her debut tracks.
The 28-year-old chart topping star is said to be hard at work creating her first collection of solo tunes – just one month after Little Mix confirmed they will be going on hiatus after they complete their upcoming tour.
Reports last year suggested Perrie was gearing up to turn her back on music – with plans to launch a lifestyle business being touted.
But the singer is now expected to try her luck as a solo artist and has drafted in some top talent to help her create some new music.
Not only did 28-year-old Fred Again – real named Fred Gibson – help write Ed’s songs Shivers, Bad Habits and Overpass Graffiti, but he has also worked with Eminem to produce his 2020 album Music To Be Murdered By.
He co-wrote a song titled Those Kinda Nights which includes explicit lyrics about drugs, sex and drinking.
Fred also worked on a string of hits for Stormy, as well as writing and producing songs for Ellie Goulding, Roots Manuva and Charli XCX.
However, Perrie is also taking steps to ensure her solo music won’t be so wildly different from what fans know as she is also said to be working with the singer-songwriter Kamille – who has co-written a number of Little Mix tunes.
Over the past week, fans have noticed clues that Perrie is hard at work creating solo music as she was spotted in a recording studio without her bandmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall.
Kamille – the pen name of Camille Purcell – let the cat our of the bag by sharing a video on TikTok of Perrie dancing her way into the studio and captioning it: “Studio wit my boo @perrieedwards.”
Inquisative fans asked the singer-songwriter if Perrie was recording alone or with her and were driven wild when Kamille simply responded: “Solo.”
Back at the beginning of December, Little Mix let their fans know that they would be going their separate ways in 2022.
Taking to social media at the time, they revealed: “We wanted to let you all know that after the Confetti tour in April/May next year we are going to be taking a break from Little Mix.
“It’s been 10 amazing years, a wonderful non-stop adventure, and we feel the time is right to take a break so we can recharge and work on some other projects.
“We can’t thank you enough for your love and never-ending support since the beginning. We love you all SO much.”
They were keen to reassure fans that it wasn’t the end, as they added: “We are not splitting up – Little Mix are here to stay We have plans for more music, tours and performances in the future.
“We’ve made so many incredible memories with you all, and we can’t wait to make so many more.”
