Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has maintained that contract talks with CeeDee Lamb are ongoing, even as the wide receiver’s holdout continues.

However, the tone shifted on Thursday when Jerry Jones stated he “doesn’t have any urgency” to resolve the issue, prompting Lamb to respond with a simple “lol.” on social media just ten minutes later.
This marked Lamb’s first public comment on the matter since training camp began. The 25-year-old is entering the final year of his rookie contract after being drafted 17th overall in 2020. He led the NFL in receptions last season and has surpassed 1,100 receiving yards for three consecutive years, setting a career high of 1,749 yards in 2023.
When pressed about his lack of concern over finalizing a deal with Lamb, the outspoken Jones offered no clear rationale. “I don’t have a sense of urgency about getting it done,” he said. “Put any reason you want. I was at Nobu two days ago. Use that as the reason. Whatever you want to put out there.”
Despite the ongoing negotiations, Jones expressed confidence that Lamb would be ready for the season opener against Cleveland on September 8. Regarding the development of the receiving corps in Lamb’s absence, he noted, “I don’t expect not to have CeeDee Lamb, but this camp has given time and opportunities to other players.”

Quarterback Dak Prescott, who is also in the final year of his contract, voiced his support for Lamb, quipping to reporters after a press conference, “I know y’all want to ask, I’ve got urgency for it to happen.”
