“When Calls the Heart: The Inside Scoop on the Show’s Final Act”
“When Calls the Heart.” No more Hope Valley, no more heartwarming moments, and no more handsome Mountie Jack. The thought is enough to send shivers down the spine of Hearties everywhere. But fear not, my fellow fans, because it seems like our beloved show is here to stay, and we’ve got the inside scoop!

“When Calls the Heart” first graced our screens back on January 11, 2014. The series, inspired by Janette Oke’s book, started as a Hallmark original movie in October 2013. It’s all about Elizabeth Thatcher, a high-society gal who finds herself in a quaint coal-mining town named Coal Valley.
By the end of Season 2, the town gets a shiny new name, Hope Valley. Lightning in a bottle? Well, Erin Krakow, who plays Elizabeth, sure thinks so. She’s been with the show since Season 1 and wakes up every morning grateful for her gig. We’re grateful too, Erin!
But here’s the big question – is the end near for “When Calls the Heart”? Are we in danger of losing our beloved show? The short answer is no! Brian Bird, the executive producer, spilled the beans at the Hearties Family Reunion event in September 2023. He’s got plans, and those plans involve keeping the Hearties happy for many, many more seasons. He even wants to rival “The Simpsons,” which is somewhere around season 42 (we lost count). Talk about ambition!
The Long-Lasting Journey of “When Calls the Heart”
Fans are on board with Brian’s master plan. Comments on Hallmark Channel’s Instagram video of his speech were flooded with love and hope for the show’s future. One fan even wished for “When Calls the Heart” to last for “many years.” You’re not alone, friend! We all want to see more of Hope Valley.
But Brian reminds us that it’s not entirely up to him. The network decides how many episodes get made, and we just have to wait with bated breath. The anticipation makes the heart grow fonder, they say.
Now, onto the big news – Season 11 is a go! Hallmark Channel renewed the show in February 2023, and Erin Krakow couldn’t be happier. She promises beautiful moments, twists, turns, and all things Heartie-worthy. It’s like Christmas came early for all of us!
Lisa Hamilton Daly, Hallmark’s EVP of programming, sang praises too. She loves the show’s uplifting nature and its heartwarming storytelling. It’s only going to get better, folks!
In a recent interview, Erin Krakow looked back on her 10-year journey with “When Calls the Heart.” She’s incredibly grateful for the opportunity to play Elizabeth for so long. Not to mention, it’s a job that comes with job security, something actors don’t often get. She’s also thankful for the amazing cast, crew, and writers who’ve become like family.
A Heartfelt Promise: The Future of “When Calls the Heart”
Speaking of family, the “When Calls the Heart” cast is a tight-knit bunch. They work long hours together on set and still want to spend weekends and hiatuses together. Game nights, travel, and community dinners? Count us in!
As for Season 10, Erin Krakow teased some wedding planning fun after that cliffhanger finale in Season 9. Elizabeth got engaged to Lucas Bouchard and got a seriously blingy rock on her finger. Cake tasting, anyone? We’re ready for the romance and surprises!
Looking back at Elizabeth’s journey in Hope Valley, Erin Krakow reflects on her character’s evolution. From a privileged upbringing to finding her footing as a frontier woman, Elizabeth has experienced it all. Strong friendships, love, marriage, pregnancy, loss, and even a love triangle – it’s been one heck of a ride!
So, there you have it, Hearties! “When Calls the Heart” isn’t going anywhere, and our favorite characters have plenty of adventures left in them. We’ll keep the faith and look forward to many more seasons of love, hope, and heartwarming moments in Hope Valley.
