Why Alexandra Grant is glad she started dating Keanu Reeves later in life
Alexandra Grant, Keanu Reeves’ girlfriend, expressed her contentment with meeting the “Matrix” actor later in life when she had already established her career. In a September 23 interview with People, Grant discussed her relationship with Reeves and the advantages of finding love as an adult.
Grant mentioned, “The good news about falling in love as an adult is that I had built my own career by the time our relationship began. I feel very confident in the relationship on the red carpet. I feel confident on it alone.”

She also shared that at times, she experiences creative frustration, comparing it to feeling like a “Maserati stuck in traffic.” However, Reeves has been a source of support in overcoming this feeling.
Grant stated, “What I love about Keanu and our exchange is that we’re pushing each other to build new roads. Seeing the other person’s problem-solving is inspiring, like, ‘Oh, well, okay, this one, that’s a cul-de-sac. How do I try this other thing?’”
“He’s such an inspiration to me,” she continued. “He’s so creative, he’s so kind. He works so hard.”
Alexandra Grant mentioned that her work as an artist has “absolutely” changed since she started dating Keanu Reeves. She recounted a studio visit a few years ago where someone noted that her work had become happier, which she attributes to her personal happiness in the relationship.
Reeves and Grant first met in 2009 at a dinner party, and their creative collaboration began in 2011 when they published a book titled “Ode to Happiness.” Reeves wrote the book, and Grant provided the illustrations. Interestingly, the book was originally created as a private gift for Keanu by Alexandra, but their friends encouraged them to publish it.
Their relationship became public in 2019 when they were photographed attending various red carpet events together. In May 2019, they were seen at the MOCA Benefit in Los Angeles, followed by their appearance at the Saint Laurent Men’s SS20 show in Malibu, California, a month later, where they were holding hands. They continued to make public appearances together, including attending the LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles in November 2019, where they were once again photographed holding hands.
