In addition to the rise in cases, the Ohio Department of Health has modified its method of reporting the COVID-19 vaccination statistics. As of this week, the state’s COVID-19 dashboard now reflects the number of individuals who have received the updated vaccine introduced in September.

Previously, the dashboard indicated the count of people who had received one or two doses of the older vaccine, which required two shots for full protection. The revised vaccine provides full protection with just a single dose. The updated dashboard reported that 894,571 Ohioans have received the one-dose vaccine, constituting 7.6% of the state’s population.

It’s essential to note that the information on the dashboard represents voluntarily reported COVID-19 vaccinations, as reporting for the majority of COVID-19 vaccinations is no longer mandatory, according to the state. The total COVID-19 case count in Ohio since early 2020 has now reached 3,566,899.
