Rocking Fundraising in York, PA

In the world of rock and roll, Cumulus Media’s “105.7 The X” WQXA in York, PA, cranked up the generosity volume. Their 17th annual “People’s Pay 4 Play Radiothon” raised a rocking $350,000 for the Harrisburg-York-Lancaster area’s Children’s Miracle Network.

Listeners got to play DJ by requesting songs for a pledge ranging from $25 to a whopping $500. And it seems some fans were willing to break the bank (or piggy bank) with pledges soaring over $1,000 just to hear their favorite tunes on air.

During the radiothon, Brent Smith of Shinedown made a special appearance, turning up the dial on generosity. The magic moment came when Children’s Miracle Network miracle child, Gannon Kupko, Jr., got a Zoom visit from Smith. In a surprise twist, Smith not only pledged $10,000 to add to the funds but also threw in an extra $10,000 for Gannon and his family to have their best Christmas ever.
