“LG Unveils Revolutionary CineBeam Qube: A Distinctive 4K Projector Setting a New Standard”

I’ve encountered only a handful LG Unveils of projectors that genuinely impressed me, and I’m optimistic that LG’s latest release will join that select group. LG recently introduced its new CineBeam Qube ahead of CES.

While the pricing and availability details are yet to be revealed, the projector’s specifications are thoroughly disclosed.

LG Unveils

Here’s a breakdown of the key specs: The CineBeam Qube boasts a 4K (UHD) resolution of 3,840 x 2,160, a brightness of 500 ANSI Lumens, a contrast ratio of 450,000:1, compact dimensions measuring 135 x 135 x 80mm, a weight of 1.49kg (approximately three pounds), and a versatile screen size ranging from 50 to 120 inches. Additional features include HDR10, a 3W Mono speaker, webOS 6.0, and support for HDMI with eARC/USB-C.

What particularly stands out for me are the impressive 4K resolution and the high contrast ratio. LG seems to be positioning the Qube beyond the realm of typical $500 portable projectors available on platforms like Amazon. Instead, it appears to be a potentially compelling alternative to traditional TVs for smaller to mid-sized living spaces, offering flexible projection sizes and a wide color gamut coverage of 154 percent of the DCI-P3 spectrum, according to LG.

Color accuracy and contrast are often challenges for projectors, and it will be interesting to see how the Qube addresses these issues under various lighting conditions during the CES demonstrations.

Unlike standard projectors with glossy white casings that are often overlooked, the CineBeam Qube is designed to be displayed on shelves, drawers, or other furniture, offering a more customized aesthetic reminiscent of old-school film cameras or contemporary bookshelf speakers. It even features a built-in 360-degree rotating carrying handle, making it convenient to transport the relatively lightweight projector between rooms, to the backyard, or on trips.

YS Lee, vice president and head of the IT business unit of LG Electronics Business Solutions Company, expressed, “Great for spaces large and small, LG CineBeam Qube is a unique lifestyle projector possessing all the qualities consumers look for when choosing a new projection solution,” in a press release.

Running on LG’s webOS 6.0 software, the CineBeam Qube provides users with access to smart TV features similar to those found in the company’s OLED, QNED, and other models, including support for Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa voice commands, as well as various streaming services. Further details on pricing and availability are anticipated, so stay tuned for updates on the CineBeam Qube.
