Cut Fruit Express Inc. in Inver Grove Heights, MN, is issuing a recall for certain products due to potential Salmonella contamination. The affected items include Caribou Coffee Fruit Mix CHPG 6.5oz and various packages of Cut Fruit Express Brand Fruit Mix containing Cantaloupes.

Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause severe infections, especially in vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Symptoms may include fever, diarrhea (potentially bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, Salmonella infection can lead to more serious conditions like arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.

Cut Fruit Express Brand products in various sizes (6.5oz, 15oz, 16oz, 32oz) and food service packages (5lb tray, 10lb bag, 25lb Pail) with USE BY DATES of 11/4/23, 11/5/23, and 11/6/23.

The affected Caribou Coffee Fruit Mix CHPG 6.5oz was distributed exclusively at MSP Airport Caribou locations.

The recall is a result of a supplier’s recall of Cantaloupes, a component in the affected products, due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recalled products were shipped between October 24th and October 26th, 2023.

As of now, no illnesses associated with the consumption of these products have been reported.

Consumers, retailers, restaurants, and wholesalers are advised not to consume, sell, or serve the recalled cantaloupe or products containing cantaloupe. Some consumers may freeze cantaloupe for later use; in such cases, frozen recalled products should be discarded.

If uncertain whether a cantaloupe is part of the recall, it is recommended to err on the side of caution and dispose of it. Consumers who purchased the affected products are encouraged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
